Animal Shelter Manager

The County of Page has an opening for a full-time Animal Shelter Manager.  This position is responsible for supervising the daily operations of the animal shelter and performing skilled and semiskilled work in the care of animals and management of all animal shelter activities.  Work involved includes managing the departmental budget, as well as, overseeing and supervising staff and participating in animal shelter operations and developing shelter procedures.  Also, extensive interaction with the public and coordinating with area non-profit organizations will be an important element within the job responsibilities.  This position will work Monday – Friday, 8 am – 5 pm, along with holidays, occasional rotating weekends and during inclement weather.

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited community college with major course work in veterinary technology or related field and considerable experience in animal control management is required. Prior experience as a manager or supervisor is preferred.  A valid driver’s license is required for this position.

The minimum starting salary for this position is $60,000, based on experience and qualifications, and will include fringe benefits: Anthem health insurance, retirement through the Virginia Retirement System, vacation and sick leave, and paid holidays.
